The main purpose of the Center for Academic and Cultural Exchange is to promote
‘international exchanges’,formulate plans for‘extension lectures’and implement
them. The projects of the Center are drawn up by the Administrative Committee.
The International Exchange Section and the Extension Lecture Section are organized
under the supervision of the committee.
(1) The International Exchange program started when the Department of French Studies made the ‘Agreement on Academic Exchange’ with University Charles de Gaulle-Lille III in France in 1989 to develop education and study at both universities. At present, in addition to Lille III University, the following academic institutions have similar agreements with Aichi Prefectural University:
・ The University of Bristol in the U.K.
・ Honam University in Republic of Korea
・ Coe College, Ashland University, and Florida International University in the U.S.A.
・ Universidad De Las Americas in Mexico
・ Nanjing Normal University and Sichuan Normal University in China
・ Univeresidad de Alicante in Spain
・ Universitat zu Koln in Germany
(2) Extension lectures started in 1980 when our university was at Takada Campus, Nagoya City. At that time, the lectures were given three times annually. Since the university was relocated to Nagakute Campus, thanks to the new establishment of the Faculty of Informational Science, the extension lectures have been available via an intercommunicating TV meeting system.
(3) Academic Exchange Lectures began as a new kind of activity by the Center for Academic and Cultural Exchange following the relocation of the university. Many excellent scholars have been invited from abroad to give lectures.
With aid from the prefecture and various foundations, the Center would like to increase opportunities for academic exchanges and extension lectures, contributing to the cultural development of Central Japan and promoting further exchange with other universities.
