Undergraduate & Graduate Schools Undergraduate School of Information Science & Technology

Let's develop the ability to open up a new future
in information science.

Developments in information science & technology are bringing about major changes in industry and society. The Faculty of Information Science & Technology develops education and research for the "fourth industrial revolution" and "super-smart society" based on artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and data science. In the first and second years, students learn various theories of information science and knowledge and skills related to hardware, software, and networks as a common foundation for all departments.

From the third year, students are divided into four courses: the Information Systems Course, the Simulation Science Course, the Intelligent Media Course, and the Robotics Course to deepen their specialized fields. In addition to the staff who support such education and research, the school also provides a full range of environmental facilities for experiments, exercises, and research.

Our goal is to develop human resources who can acquire practical skills to play an active role in the advanced information society and who can connect people and society to a happy future through information science.

Greetings from the Dean

The Faculty of Information Science & Technology was established in April 1998 as Aichi Prefectural University's first science faculty. At that time, the term "IT" was not at all widespread, but IT has now grown and developed into a social infrastructure and lifeline that is indispensable for people's daily lives.

Along with the expansion of IT, there is an urgent need to develop human resources to lead new technologies such as the IoT (Internet of Things), artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and data science that will support the fourth industrial revolution (Society 5.0).

These technologies are fundamental technologies that support the next-generation automobile, robotics, and aircraft industries, which Aichi Prefecture has positioned as key next-generation industries. Therefore, it is absolutely essential to develop human resources in IT, AI, and data science in Aichi Prefecture in order to support Aichi as an advanced manufacturing prefecture, and we believe that it is an important mission of Aichi Prefectural University as a public university to respond to such demands.

The Faculty of Information Science & Technology is engaged in education and research to foster IT professionals who have acquired basic knowledge of information science & technology, have the ability to respond to rapidly changing technological information, and can play an active role in society in support of an advanced information society.

Furthermore, as students of the specialty, we strive to nurture human resources who can not only acquire information science theory and technology to play an active role in society, but also talk to others about the significance and value of information science and lead society toward a happy future.

Department of Information Science & Technology

To acquire the ability to pioneer a smart global society through in-depth study of the advanced information technology that supports manufacturing.

The Department of Information Science provides education and research guidance so that students can utilize their knowledge of engineering and information science to solve various problems assumed in "manufacturing" by taking advantage of the unique characteristics of Aichi Prefecture.

As a result, many of our students have achieved high-quality research results and are active in companies that support manufacturing in Aichi Prefecture, such as those related to automobiles, electrical machinery, machinery, and information and telecommunications.
