「Academic Writing III」「 Research & Discussion III」を通じて、専門的な内容の文章を書く、論じる能力を向上させる。それらの能力を活かしながら、「研究演習」での学修を通じて、各自で選択したテーマに関する研究を卒業論文にまとめる。

愛知県立成章高等学校 2021年度入学
県大の英米学科では、英語の４技能だけでなく、英米社会や文学・文化、言語学、英語教育学についても掘り下げることができます。英語の授業では、ディスカッションやプレゼンテーション、アカデミックライティングなど高校の授業から一歩進んだ実践的な英語を学ぶことができます。そして、専門科目の授業は、英語の構造から英語の教え方、英米の歴史・経済・社会情勢、英語圏の映画・小説・詩まで、分野が細かく幅広いので、興味に合うものが見つかりやすいと思います。また、授業外では留学支援制度や検定対策講座、留学生との交流の場であるiCotobaなど、学生の挑戦や体験をサポートしてくれる環境が整っています。私自身も県大の留学制度を使ってカナダへ留学することができました。
何でもできる時間があるのは大学生の特権なので、大学の制度や設備で使えるものはとことん使って、大小関係なく自分のやりたいことに挑戦し、様々な経験をしていただけたらと思います。

授業内容の概要
Academic Writing III
Academic Writing III is an elective course designed to develop students' advanced writing skills. The course emphasizes vital writing skills such as cohesion, critical thinking, paraphrasing, plagiarism avoidance, and grammatical accuracy. The instructor and peers will provide feedback to students to improve their writing and prepare them for their graduation thesis. In addition, their course teacher will check at least one chapter of their dissertation to ensure that they have effectively applied the writing skills learned in the course. By the end of the AWIII course, students will be able to choose an appropriate topic, find credible sources, prepare an annotated bibliography, paraphrase, and quote sources correctly, write a research proposal, understand the structure of a large-scale research project, use academic vocabulary and style, and answer questions in an oral interview about their research project.
研究各論（Comparative Studies【Culture and Literature】）
This course will introduce how each country's popular culture is connected in the globalized era, focusing primarily on the movies and literature in Japan and America. Students will read the novel Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968）and watch its film adaptation Blade Runner (1982). Comparing those with the Japanese Manga『攻殻機動隊』（1991）and its adapted Animation『Ghost in the Shell / 攻殻機動隊』(1995) explores the ways in which these works have influenced one another. In the later semester, we will watch, the sequel to Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049（2017）and Hollywood version of Ghost in the Shell (2017). Ultimately, this course seeks to deepen students’ understanding of the ways in which popular culture over the past half century has been transmedial and characterized by cultural hybridity.
研究演習（アメリカの社会）
アメリカ史について、これまで学んできたことを基礎としながら、各自の関心に応じて研究テーマを設定し、関連する日本語及び英語の研究書を読みながら、時にはアメリカの連邦議会図書館や国立公文書館などのウェブサイトからその時代に書かれた記録など（一次資料）を入手して研究をすすめます。当事者の書き残した記録には時に矛盾する内容が含まれることもあり、そうした中から過去の事実を見極めることは、情報化時代に生きる現代人にも必要な素養といえます。
授業では、進捗状況を口頭発表し、教員や他の学生との議論を通じて専門的な理解を深めていきます。３年次の後半には、愛知県立大学外国語学部を含む、名古屋地区の大学の学生たちと合同の「インターゼミナール」（写真）で研究発表をおこない、４年次には各自の研究成果を卒業論文にまとめ、南山大学との卒論合同発表会で報告しています。
